What HeroTasker can do
- Dispute review.When a tradesperson marks a job complete, you’re prompted to confirm or dispute it. If you dispute, our admin team reviews; the outcome (Completed or Cancelled) is recorded permanently on the task and on the tradesperson’s record.
- Account removal.A tradesperson with a pattern of disputes, ghosting, or claiming credentials they don’t hold can be removed from HeroTasker, and the record kept.
- Auto-hide on repeated reports. A task or profile that accumulates multiple user reports is hidden pending review.
- Audit trail. Every message in the chat, every offer, every dispute outcome is preserved. If you need a copy for a Trading Standards complaint or a small-claims case, request a data export from your account page — usually delivered within 30 days.
What HeroTasker can’t do
- We can’t refund you, because we never hold the money. Money flows directly between you and the tradesperson — that’s why we don’t take a commission.
- We don’t verify credentials at signup. Ask the tradesperson for their Gas Safe number, NICEIC number, insurance certificate, or any other relevant credential on the first call, and check it on the relevant register before booking.
Outside HeroTasker
- If you paid by credit card and the job is over £100, Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act may make your card issuer jointly liable. Speak to your card company about whether your specific situation qualifies.
