Terms of Service

Last updated: 20 May 2026

By signing up to HeroTasker or using the site, you agree to these terms. They’re short on purpose. If anything reads ambiguously, write to us via the contact form.

HeroTasker brand collage of UK tradespeople

What HeroTasker is

HeroTasker is a UK directory of independent tradespeople and a marketplace where customers post tasks and tradespeople bid. The agreement to do work is between the customer and the tradesperson. HeroTasker is not a party to that agreement and is not your employer, employee, agent, or insurer.

No payments through the platform

No money flows through HeroTasker. There is no escrow, no payment hold, no service fee, no tip, no commission. The price on a job is between the customer and the tradesperson. You settle direct — cash, bank transfer, whatever you both agree.

We don’t vet tradespeople beyond a phone check

At sign-up we verify each user’s phone number with a one-time SMS code. That is the only check we run. We do not verify qualifications, insurance, trade certifications, right-to-work, or anything else. Do your own checks before you hire — ask for proof of insurance, look at previous work, and trust your gut on the phone.

How offers and acceptance work

When a customer posts a task, any tradesperson with a verified phone number on the platform can send an offer with a price and a short pitch. The tradesperson’s full name and business are always visible — no anonymous bids. When the customer accepts an offer, the other open offers on that task are closed automatically and a private chat opens between the customer and the chosen tradesperson. From that point, the job is between the two of them, off the platform.

Cancellation

A customer can cancel a task at any point before they accept an offer. After acceptance, the agreement is between the customer and the tradesperson — see the cancellation policy for the short FAQ.

Acceptable use

When you use HeroTasker, you agree to the following:

  • Don’t list a business you don’t actually run.
  • Don’t impersonate another person or business.
  • Don’t bid on jobs you have no realistic intention of doing.
  • Don’t spam — no unsolicited promotions in chat, no duplicate accounts to flood a task with offers.
  • Don’t harass, threaten, or abuse anyone on the platform.
  • Don’t scrape the site or hammer it with automated requests.
  • Don’t use the chat to route a customer to a different platform with the aim of dodging any future HeroTasker fee. The platform is free today; we’ll be straightforward in advance if anything ever changes (see pricing).

Please also read the community guidelines and (if you’re on the tools) the tradesperson principles — together they spell out what good behaviour on the platform looks like.

Account suspension and deactivation

We may suspend or deactivate an account for breaking the acceptable-use rules above, for fraudulent or unlawful behaviour, or for repeated complaints from other users. In serious cases — fraud, impersonation, or threats — we may decline to reactivate. You can write to us via the contact form if you think we’ve got it wrong.

You can deactivate your own account at any time from /account/deactivate. Your profile is hidden immediately and your data is purged 30 days later unless you sign back in within that window.

No guarantee on outcomes

We do our best to keep the directory accurate and the marketplace moving, but we do not guarantee availability, quality of work, response times, or that any specific tradesperson will bid on your task. If something goes wrong with a job, it is for the customer and the tradesperson to sort out direct.

Limitation of liability

HeroTasker provides the platform on an “as is” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, or expense arising from a job arranged through the site — including loss of profit, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute that can’t be sorted out by talking goes to the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we’ll say so on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top.
